Reclaiming Wellbeing: Partnering with The Coleshill School to Support Students’ Mental Health.
We’re thrilled to announce our latest partnership with The Coleshill School to deliver our Reclaiming Wellbeing through Nature group—a powerful program designed to tackle poor mental health and foster a sense of purpose among young people.
Helping Students Find Their Purpose – A back story.
When I was in Year 5, my school in Bearwood launched a local campaign that, at the time, felt like a small and simple task. The issue was one many communities face; people weren’t picking up after their dogs, and it was becoming a real problem for residents. In response, our school decided to act.
We made signs to raise awareness and cleaned up the streets surrounding our school. It may not sound like much, but for us, it was a big deal. So much so that the local news picked up the story, and we even appeared on Newsround, which was monumental to us as children.
At the time, I didn’t think much beyond the excitement of being on TV and the novelty of our efforts being acknowledged. It was just another school activity; something small and fleeting that would eventually fade into the background of life. But now, as an adult, I look back on that campaign with a deep sense of pride and clarity. I still have the newspaper clipping and can vividly recall the memories of what we achieved. We were contributing to something bigger than ourselves, working towards the greater good of our community. It may have been a small act, but it mattered.

Helping Students Find Their Purpose – A back story continued.
What stands out most to me now isn’t just the achievement itself but the underlying impact it had on us as young people. We were shown, perhaps unknowingly at the time, the power of collaboration, purpose, and community. We were taught that our actions—no matter how small—could make a difference.
Had I understood then what I know now about the profound link between contribution and self-esteem, it might have been life changing. That campaign didn’t just clean the streets; it planted the seeds of self-worth, belonging, and the belief that I could play a role in improving the world around me.
This experience is a reminder that even the smallest acts of community service can leave a lasting impact—not just on the world, but on the people doing the work. For young people especially, these moments can become the foundation for confidence, resilience, and a lifelong sense of purpose.
Looking back, I realise that campaigns like this aren’t just about solving immediate problems; they’re about shaping the mindset of a generation. And that’s why initiatives like the ones we run at Reclaiming Wellbeing are so important. They’re not just activities—they’re opportunities for young people to reconnect, contribute, and discover their potential.
Let’s continue to inspire the next generation to see the value in their actions, however small, and to recognise that the impact they have today can echo long into the future.
Looking Ahead At Reclaiming Wellbeing, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. This collaboration with The Coleshill School is just the beginning, and we hope to bring programs like this to many more schools in the future.
